Kirsty’s youth was spent doing, striving and achieving in calisthenics and music, never really just being; a confusing blur between self-expression and proving herself.

She developed a keen interest in health during high school, and after a year of classical music performance, moved on to complete a Bachelor of Science in Health & Human Movement, while also studying for a Certificate 4 in Fitness. She started her personal training career at Fitness First in 2007 and immediately fell in love with and found purpose within the industry, the people in it, and being part of the ‘prevention’ rather than the ‘cure’ of dysfunction and poor health.

Running a personal training business, training hard in the gym 7 days a week and finishing Uni wasn’t enough; she quickly took on the role of 2IC of the PT department; it didn’t take too long for the regular panic attacks to begin. During this time, she signed up to an energy/meditation course with a couple of friends; this was the beginning of a relationship forming within herself.

She also had big goals and visions of being a ‘TV trainer, but doing it her way, holistically’. Being completely aligned to it, this started to come to fruition with a move to Sydney in 2010 to train contestants behind the scenes for a new Ch9 weight loss show, ‘BIG:Extreme Makeover.’

The following year she became Mel B’s personal trainer during X-Factor filming, training the X-Factor contestants, writing regular articles and workouts for Body+Soul Magazine, becoming their in-house personal trainer, regularly writing articles or contributing interviews for many other popular health/fitness magazines, filming segments for HealthyMeTV and the odd guest appearance on The Morning Show and Today Show, as well as delivering talks across Sydney high schools on body image and nutrition and working with a brilliant bunch of clients who became her family.

The vision was alive and developed into wanting to move to the USA and become the ‘Oprah of Health & Happiness’ – a wonderful way to contribute and help others, blurred with an addictive craving to be and feel valuable by the world. A ticket to Las Vegas for 5 months felt like everything was coming together, but regular bouts of over-training had kicked in, making it harder to train at the high intensity she loved.

After far too many instances of over-training and not listening or changing, chronic fatigue inevitably hit, alongside debilitating hip and shoulder injuries. This was a smack in the face and total shattering of her identity, a profoundly important knock to ensure she stopped over-doing and under-nurturing and nourishing herself, and started to see herself through accepting, respecting and loving eyes.

This is where Kirsty used her tenacious ways to her advantage; she just needed to feel better. And so for hours each day, she dove within, read all the books, meditated, completed Reiki training, developed an intimate mind/body energetic connection and understanding within, started yoga and did her teacher training, working toward healing her body and energy bit by bit and rebuilding herself from the earth up.

She gradually learnt that there is so much more to life than proving our worth; she learnt to be, to trust herself, to love her body for the gift it is and enjoy connection and life itself.

Her love affair with self growth and excellence runs in her blood, but through very different eyes than when it began; eyes that now allow her to see beyond self-identity and limiting beliefs and feel truth within her clients.

A move back home to Adelaide in 2015 led Kirsty to meet her partner, Bryan and join his business, Karmony Performance & Wellbeing, Adelaide’s best holistic gym for over 30’s. Here she also teaches transformational yoga classes and integrated personal training sessions, including training paralympian superstar, Izzy Vincent.
